3 eco-friendly & sustainable brands I wore at the Green Fashion Week
Beginning of April, I went on a trip to California to attend the Green Fashion Week. I am not the kind person who likes to travel on its own so it was mixed feelings of excitement and anxiety to travel to the other side of the world without my partner in crime Julian. But getting out of my comfort zone was definitely worth it as got to meet wonderful people and beautiful eco fashion brands while traveling for the first time through the golden & silver states. The first fashion show started in Los Angeles. We then continued our road trip all the way up to Las Vegas, with pit stops in the middle of the Death Valley to watch the sunset, to walk on the Salt Flats of Badwater Bassin and on Pastel Green Sand dunes. The landscapes were breathtaking and the experience was amazing.
I also feel very honoured to have had the opportunity to wear some of the represented eco-friendly brands coming from all around the world and I am very excited to present them in today’s article.

Kromagnon {New York, USA}

During the fashion show, I fell in love with this light grey Hempcel® dress made of Hemp & Lyocell. It’s the perfect dress for the summer days in the office because it’s light and comfortable yet sophisticated. This dress is the quintessence of eco-chic. I was able to talk further with Kristen, founder of Kromagnon, about her sustainable collection. She attaches a paramount importance to eco-friendly materials, using mainly hemp {that requires less water than cotton for instance} blends with other eco fabrics such as peace silks, Tencel or recycled plastic bottles. This priority goes down to the smallest details, choosing biodegradable buttons and trims.

EcoBling {Australia}

EcoBling is a planet friendly accessory line designed by the talented eco-entrepreneur Katie {who also took my Kromagnon pictures & the following}. Katie and her team recycle and upcycle discarded materials such as wood from a floor or a staircase {like the wooden necklace I am wearing above}, glass from wine bottles {like the necklace I am wearing in the pictures opposite & below} or stainless steel from a kitchen sink. This upcycling process is a brilliant idea to avoid waste and new production of material. I LOVE that.
Similar necklaces in wood here and in glass here.

Lovia {Finland & Italy}

Lovia is a sustainable bag and jewellery line designed in Helsinki using ethically sourced Nordic materials and made in Milan. What I like about the brand is their supply chain transparency and the ability to know and understand the DNA of each bag. I am wearing their Kainut crossbody bag made of recycled leather {from vintage leather jackets} and elk leather {read here why this leather is in a way considered sustainable}.  I love the classic colour and structured shape which makes it a great eco-luxe bag for work. You can easily bring your 13″ laptop, some documents or your favourite book.
Thank you, Anna for taking these beautiful pictures.

I brought with me this salmon skin pouch {read more here about salmon skin}, perfect for bringing my makeup on-the-go.
Can you believe that on these pictures I am in Las Vegas!? L.V. has indeed a pretty cool Arts District with lots of vintage & second-hand shops where I found this vintage peaked hat.

This black & white outfit {white ruffle top from Armedangels & black linen trousers from Freitag} is so versatile that I was able to combine this burgundy bag, another creation from Lovia’s collection. I was also wearing these very-light & delicate string earrings made of lead and nickel-free bronze.

During this trip, I had the pleasure to share bedrooms with Marieke Eyskoot {I couldn’t dream for a better roommate!}, sustainable fashion & lifestyle expert and author of DIT IS EEN GOEDE GIDS book {= “This is a good guide” see below.} filled with good fashion & beauty labels, food, living and working tips to help and inspire you to live a more sustainable life.
