About a year ago my way of seeing and buying fashion started to change. I started reading about the social and environmental disaster of the fashion industry and that’s when I gradually stopped buying fast-fashion brands. At the same time, I started investigating & investing in ethically-made clothing brands. This is a process that requires time to adjust because we have never been taught how to mindfully buy our garments or anything at all for that matter. I guess we never expected to see the fashion industry so rapidly turn into such a detrimental business, it surpassed us and we looked the other way. I reached a point where I couldn’t keep going into that direction. For me, it was time to be more conscious regarding my purchases. So when ABOUT YOU contacted me to create an outfit, I first explored their website to look for brands that were focusing on ethics. I found ARMEDANGELS that uses eco-friendly materials like organic cotton, linen, and wool, Lenzing Modal®, and Tencel® or recycled polyester. The brand also makes sure that everyone involved in the production process is working under fair conditions.

In today’s post, I am wearing their “star rain” black dress, 100% made of Lyocell (wood pulp) in Turkey (it’s currently on sale!). You can never go wrong with a little black dress and it’s sure to be a sustainable choice to add to your wardrobe. I paired it with high heels to create a chic attire but I was also wearing it with my ethical sneakers in this picture for a more casual look.

I tend to have dresses with short sleeves, so for a change, I definitely love the long sleeves of this one which is perfect for the shoulder season. For the chillier mornings and nights, a cardigan is a must-have. This GOTS certified organic wool & cotton cardigan has been my favourite lately. It’s cozy and versatile enough to pair with any outfit. It’s available in grey here.
