Hi, Ladies! I am happy to start the 2017 Fashion Revolution Week with a Made in France outfit! You probably remember the collapse of the Rana Plaza textile factory in Bangladesh four years ago, where a thousand people lost their lives. They were working in hazardous conditions for fast-fashion companies to fulfill our “needs” to buy new and cheaper garments. The aim of the 2017 Fashion Revolution Week is to get more transparency from fashion brands by asking them: #Whomademyclothes?
Buying from local designers is another way to easily know who made your clothes, a form of shopping which became one of my priorities. But changing years of shopping habits can be challenging. So I turned myself to Dressing Responsable, an online French boutique showcasing ethical fashion brands. It’s how I am able to say that this Black Verveine shirt was made by Olena in France, these trousers were made by Carrousel Clothing fashion designer Elisa in Annecy, and the jewellery was made by YAY designer Julie in Paris. All made in France! Buying local is also a way to support your local economy.
To help you build a more sustainable wardrobe, I am thrilled to tell you that there is a discount code available at the end of the post on your first purchase at Dressing Responsable website! Read all the way and keep in mind to buy fewer but better!
This twill shirt is made of organic cotton from the french brand, Black Verveine. I love the pastel blue collar and line that match perfectly with the baby blue trousers from the french brand, Carrousel Clothing. These trousers may look familiar as it’s the spring version of the pink one I am wearing in this article.
I love adding a touch of gold to my outfits with jewellery. Here I am wearing the Parisian brand, You Are Young (YAY). The designer uses a gold-filled instead of a gold-plated technique which is a more sustainable and valuable option on the long-term.
You might also have noticed on my Instagram that I am carrying this Freitag bag everywhere with me lately. This hand/crossbody bag is so versatile that it’s easy to wear with any outfit like this one, this one, this one or this one. What I love even more is that it’s made from used truck tarpaulins and PET lining! I love up-cycling!
