Invited to our friend’s wedding on the 1st of September in Madrid, we spent the last weeks of August in the Spanish capital. Although I would not recommend you to visit Madrid during the suffocating hot summer months, the capital is filled with ethical fashion and green beauty shops, as well as vegetarian and vegan restaurants.

Ethical fashion shops

The Circular Project Shop

Green beauty shop and natural hairdresser

Handmade Beauty by Diana Burillo – natural, organic and cruelty-free cosmetics
It’s a green beauty shop as well as a holistic therapy and care center. I got myself this cucumber face scrub and mask, this ginger face milk and lavender essential oil to prevent blemishes inflammation.
Date un respiro – Hairdresser using natural & organic shampoos and hair dyeing.
It’s been over 7 years since I stopped dying my hair with chemical colouring and I never been so happy with the way my hair looks. While going to the barber shop for Julian to get a new haircut,  I came across Date un respiro hairdresser by chance. I only go to the hairdresser once a year to cut my hair and after 2 months traveling in SE Asia and the upcoming wedding, it was the right time to go for it. I got myself a natural clay dye (from the brand, Secretos Del Agua) to nourish my hair and cut a few centimeters. The result is very natural and that’s why I love it!

Vegetarian and vegan restaurants

I wouldn’t call Spain a vegetarian country. However, you will find below a list of vegetarian and vegan restaurants we’ve been to and enjoyed!
La Huerta de Almeria
La Bioteka
Distrito Vegano
La Encomienda (the only one we couldn’t try because closed during our visit).

We also recommend you the following restaurants where we were able to find good vegetarian dishes:
Vi Cool
Raro Rare
Oven Mozzarella Bar

Thank you for stopping by The Pastel Project. I hope you will find this article useful for your next visit in the madrilene city!
